What is a Chest Binder

What is a Chest Binder

WHAT IS A CHEST BINDER?

A chest binder  is a medical compression garment used after surgery to support the upper part of the abdomen. A chest binder is worn under normal clothing that keeps the skin, muscles, and organs safe and in place after a surgery. These binders are highly effective and useful because they help in healing and provides comfort. Men and women both are advised to use a chest binder after some surgeries that leave the body vulnerable such as gynecomastia, cardiothoracic surgery, pectoral implants, suction lumpectomy, Chest Liposuction, stereotactic biopsy or an open heart surgery.

At Expand-a-Band and Breast (EAB) Medical, we provide stylish, high-quality and comfortable post-procedure compression wear. All our products have a smart “double compression” technology that aids the healing process in a better way as compared to other models available in the market. We at EAB Medical understand the patient’s needs. A chest binder is especially very beneficial for procedures that alter the inner organs such as liposuction because to let the skin heal to the new form is critical for a surgery to be successful. The double compression chest binders leave your skin tight, smooth and with little scarring or none at all since a medical chest binder holds the body exactly as needed. It prevents the skin from sagging and avoids uneasiness. The feeling of being held together after a surgery feels pretty damn good and comforting and that’s the level of comfort that we at EAB Medical, strive to deliver through our chest binders. Chest binders make you stay conscious and mindful of the operated area and keep you from overdoing it when you start to feel better.

Using a medical chest binder after surgery is optional but many doctors strongly recommend using it. But, it actually depends on the type of surgery. Chest binders are mostly suggested because they increase blood circulation which improves the healing process and sidesteps the possibility of post-surgical fluids and reduces the risk of infections. One of the best things about using a medical chest binder is that it can be easily taken on and off without causing the patient any discomposure. Although our medical chest binders come with a double compression technology yet they are flexible and allow the doctor to carry out the examination of the stitches, staples or the scar without difficulty.

EAB Medical has chest binders in different sizes ranging from 36” × 10” to 56” × 13”. Most of the chest binders are designed specifically just to hold the breasts after the breast augmentation surgeries while others are used for diverse types of thoracic/chest surgeries and procedures. The surgical chest binders can be worn directly on the skin or under the clothing. However, they are not noticeable or very visible if worn under the clothes. The only downside to wearing a medical chest binder is that it will exert just a little bit of pressure on the chest to keep the skin tight but since it is flexible it will not cause any major distress or uneasiness on the surgical area.

Remember: Before you buy a binder for yourself make sure to discuss with your doctor what kind of chest binder is best suited for you. It’s always a good idea to converse with your doctor about the effects of the binder and what to expect of it. Many surgeons of Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins and City of Hope Medical Centre and other doctors of top healthcare facilities in the United States of America recommend Chest binders and other surgical binders provided by EAB Medical. We do our best to deliver exceptional client service to all our patients and to distribute the best quality product.
